Digital Manuscript Libraries

Many important manuscript libraries are making their collections available online.The list of ever growing. While some manuscript libraries allows users to download, others only allow online viewing. But in any case, having these manuscripts available for consultation online is a true convenience for the researcher.

 

A very useful site is at the Research Guides section of the website of the University of Michigan. The website also has a section for Islamic Manuscript Studies and contains loads of useful references and links to websites.

Schoenberg Collection

This small but very important private collection of manuscripts, including a significant number on science is now kept at the University of Pensylvania.

A beautifully illustrated catalogue of the early manuscripts in the collection, carrying the title Transformation of Knowledge, can be downloaded via:
